Quran arsonist "rethinking" the cancellation

Oh, crap.

That's all I could say after clicking into cnn.com and spotting this story: "Florida pastor says he's 'rethinking' canceled Quran burning."

It would seem he didn't get what he (claims he) thought he'd be getting:  The moving of the New York Islamic center/"victory mosque" in exchange for his cancelling his conflagration.

Dive below the fold for more.

The heart of the story on cnn.com:

A Florida pastor who called off a Quran burning said late Thursday he was "rethinking our position" after a Muslim leader said the minister incorrectly announced that the proposed Islamic center near New York's ground zero would be moved as part of a deal.

[snip]

During the afternoon, Jones canceled his plan to burn copies of the Quran, based on what he said were assurances from a local Muslim leader that the Islamic center in New York would be moved -- an assertion rejected by the center's visionary in New York.

Jones, leader of the Gainesville, Florida-based Dove World Outreach Center, announced he will travel Saturday to New York to meet with the religious leader behind the planned center, Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, about a new location.

But that, too, was questioned.

There's more, much more, with "Pastor" Jones claiming he may have been lied to and threatening to resume his arsonist agenda, while any party with even a tenuous grasp on reality and civility is saying no, no promises were made.

I would really love to grab this so-called minister by his scraggly whiskers and scream, spittle-flecked, into his hideous mug:  "Just who the HELL do you think you are?!?"

But then, I'd rather not hear the sanctimonious hateful bilge he'd spew in reply, so best not to try.

Addition: While I was writing this, alpolitics posted a diary that, frankly, is better than mine.  Go check it out.
